Rabbi Asher Altshul
Youth in Odessa. Growing up in Israel. Lives in New York.
Since 1990, Rabbi Asher Altshul has been an activist at the reborn Odessa Jewish community.
In 1992, having made the "Aliya" with his family to Israel, he graduated from Yeshiva "Horev" in Jerusalem. Rabbi Altshul continued his religious education at Yeshivah "Makor Chaim" under the leadership of Rabbi Adin Even-Israel (Steinsaltz), Z "L" and at "Kolel Chabad" in Jerusalem, where he later taught until 1997.
In years 1997-1999 he served in the Israeli army (IDF) in the intelligence service of the Central District.
By the end of his army service, Rabbi Altshul was invited to work at Creo Inc. in Hertsliya Pituach, where he worked as a programmer until 2002. At the same time, Rabbi Altshul studied at the Jerusalem College of Technology JCT "Mahon Lev" towards the BSc in Computer Science.
In 2002, he was invited to teach at Yeshiva-High School "Sinai Academy" in New York. In 2003, Rabbi Altshul founded the Russian-speaking Jewish community "Or Azion" at the Jewish Center "Nahalat Zion.
At the same time, he worked as a principal of "EAST Academy" Jewish High School and a Chaplain at CenterLight Medical Corp. Rabbi Altshul was holding a position of a Philosophy professor at Touro International 2017-2021.
Rabbi Altshul is constantly participating in many Jewish educational projects at the local and international levels. He is a well-known TV and radio personality and runs a popular YouTube channel.
Since 2021, Rabbi Asher Altshul has been the Rabbi of the Congregation Beth Shalom of Kings Bay in Brooklyn NY. In a short period, the Congregation became the largest in the area, with hundreds of members and service attendees. The Congregation Beth Shalom is home to education, community life, congregational and private events, religious services, and social activities.
Rabbi Asher Altshul has been married since 1996 to the Rebetzen Natalya. They are raising four children, three boys and a girl.
